TAGUM CITY—The Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters on Wednesday threatened to stage more attacks against “intruding” government troops.

Abu Misry Mama, speaking for the BIFF, in a phone interview said the BIFF forces are on “stand-by mode” to launch offensive operations against the military saying “(O)ur forces are on alert and always ready against any attack from the government troops.”

Mama warned the civilians living in their territories “to avoid the military checkpoints and detachments so that they won’t be caught in crossfire in case a firefight ensued.”

He also disclosed to Davao Today that BIFF forces have been dispatched to strategic areas in Maguindanao in response to the increasing presence of military troops in what Mama claimed as their enclaves.

For instance, Mama said, more than 200 BIFF forces were deployed in Barangay Kitang, Datu Saudi Ampatuan town in Maguindanao.

The Army’s 6th Infantry Division and Marines last week have allegedly encountered over 60 alleged BIFF members.

Military war tanks and checkpoints were seen positioned in General Santos City and Cotabato City highways. (davaotoday.com)
