DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A movement was launched here on Monday calling on Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher “Bong” Go to run for Senator in the upcoming 2019 midterm elections.

The Bayan for Bong Go Movement or popularly known as B4BG is a “grassroots volunteer organization” organized to convince SAP Bong Go to run for a Senate post.

Davao City Councilor and Philippine Councilors League (PCL) National Chairman Danilo Dayanghirang who attended the event said,”We need someone in the Senate who can support the president in his plans and programs for the Filipino people.”

“Bong Go is not corrupt that’s why he is suited for the Senate,” Dayanghirang added.

B4BG was founded by Former Liga ng mga Barangay National President James Marty Lim, Assistant Secretary of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Marjorie N. Jalosjos, PCOO Assistant Secretary Ramon Cualoping III, Assistant Secretary for Presidential Communications Office and founder of 1Barangay Loukee Avila Fanlo, and Provincial Barangay Affairs of Isabela Province Faustino “Inno” Dy.

In his speech, DILG Secretary Martin Diňo said, “You can’t find another person like Bong Go. All Barangay Chairmen supports him. We need him in the Senate”.

Go was not able to join the event because he was with President Rodrigo Duterte in China but in a phone patch during the movement’s launching, he thanked his supporters for organizing the event.

He also asked his supporters to let him do his job as the presidential assistant while he is thinking of running for senator.

“Time will come that I will decide. I hope that by that time you are all still there,” added Go.

The B4BG Grand Launching in Davao City was attended by various Barangay Leadership members nationwide. The organization believes that by being a powerful and loyal ally of the President, Go can help bring development and progress to the 42,000 strong barangays in the country. (davaotoday.com)
