CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – Those who oppose the proposed amendments of the Constitution has found an ally in administration senator, Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, as he emphasized he will vote against any move to change it.

“If those who benefit from the changes in the Constitutions are us politicians, then I am not in favor,” he said, adding that “the Filipino people should be the ones who will benefit from it.”

Go said the discussion on the Constitutional amendments has not yet been scheduled in the Senate, although the city’s Second District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez earlier said the Congress expected to transmit the changes they approved to the Senate by April next year.

In a separate interview, Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate said the issue should not be on the amendment of the Constitution but on the proper implementation of the country’s laws.

“We have enough laws. The problem is on the implementation,” Zarate said.

Go was here Saturday (Nov. 16) to visit and distribute financial assistance to the fire victims from the villages of Carmen and Lapasan. (davaotoday.com)
