DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A member of the Cafgu Active Auxiliary (CAA) was killed in an encounter with the New People’s Army in Paquibato District here over the weekend.

Major Ezra Balagtey, Joint Task Force Haribon civil-military officer on Monday, October 16, said CAA Allan Macla Lausan was killed in an encounter with an undetermined number of NPAs in the Damilag Patrol Base located in Sitio Damilag, Barangay Mapula on Saturday, October 14.

CAAs are part of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU), a reserve program of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Major General Noel Clement, Commander Joint Task Force Haribon, said they mourn for the loss of Lausan.
Meanwhile, Balagtey said the military were able to seize six firearms in Sitio Ventura in Barangay Wines, Baguio District on Friday evening, October 13.

He said the recovery of the Barrett rifle, an M14 rifle, a Garand rifle, a Thompson submachine gun, two shotguns and ammunition, came following a report from a military asset about the location of the NPAs in Barangay Gumalang in Baguio District, this city. (davaotoday.com)
