DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Davao City Police chief Senior Superintendent Michael John Dubria warned the public about conmen using the name of the Davao City Police Office and Dubria himself to solicit for cellphone load and money from the locals.

“We in the Davao City Police Office do not solicit for anything, and we do not order over the phone. If we do order, we have to do a face-to-face transaction,” Dubria said at the sidelines of the DCPO’s pre-Valentines Day activity for the elderly here Monday.

In a press conference last week, DCPO spokesperson Police Sr. Insp. Catherine Dela Rey said they received reports of swindlers asking for cellphone credits, money, and food orders, claiming to be representatives of the police force and the City Director himself.

“Sometimes, these conmen order pack meal deliveries, sometimes they order pizza. For those establishment owners, please do not fall prey to orders over the phone posing as the City Director, or any other policemen,” Dubria added.

Dubria also said they will be releasing flyers to warn people about conmen.

Dubria advised the public to report incidents through the “Isumbong kay CD Dubria” (Report to CD Dubria) hotline 09258233276. (davaotoday.com)
