Duterte: Sona lacks concrete program on crime, criminality

Jul. 27, 2015

DAVAO CITY – Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is not too impressed with the last State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III on Monday.

Duterte who watched the Sona live at the People’s Park told members of the press that Aquino’s speech did not include actions on how to stop criminality, particularly drugs.

“I did not hear any concrete program on crime and criminality. Corruption maybe, but (none for) crime and criminality, especially drugs,” said Duterte.

Duterte cited reports from the Manila Police District (MPD) saying nine out of 10 persons are drug-influenced which he said is “dangerous”. He said the figure is true nationwide.

“Drugs is creeping in into the lives of young people,” Duterte said.

Duterte said the President “is clean” but he cannot say the same for the people around him. Duterte said he rates the President with a grade of 7.5.

He said he would want the investments entering the country to be enjoyed by those in the grassroots.

“99% of Filipinos are poor and that’s the problem,” he said.

Duterte also said it would be a lie to claim that Davaoenos lives became better off under his term as a Mayor.

“Dako pa kaayo tag labangonon (We have a long way to go),” he said.(davaotoday.com)
