DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Social Weather Station reports a 10-point decline in the net trust rating of President Rodrigo Duterte for the first quarter of 2018.

The First Quarter Social Weather Station survey findings showed a net trust rating of +65 classified as very good, falling from +75 in December 2017.

The March 2018 survey conducted a face to face interview of 1200 adults (18 years old and above):300 each in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
It found out that three out of four (76%) Filipinos have much trust, 14% undecided and 10% with little trust.

The survey findings presented a down in points in the following areas: from +94 to +89 in Mindanao, +76 to +70 in Visayas, +56 to +53 in Luzon and +73 to +62 in Metro Manila.

Dutertes net trust rating remained excellent among college graduates and fell by one grade among those with lower educational attainment.

Dutertes net satisfaction rating also showed a 2-point decline; +56 as very good from +58 very good in December 2017. The 2-point decline in President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating from December 2017 to March 2018 was declined by 11 points in Luzon and 1 point in Metro Manila, combined with increases of 12 points in the Visayas and 2 points in Mindanao.

Despite the decline in the trust ratings, President Spokesperson Harry Roque in a statement said that they are grateful for the peoples vote of confidence with significant trust in the President, amid being subjected to unending criticisms and attacks.

Rest assured that the President will continue to steer the ship of State until we reach a drug-free destination where the countrys macroeconomic fundamentals would be strong and resilient so Filipinos could lead comfortable lives, he added.

Meanwhile, Anakpawis party-list representative Ariel Casilao said they were not surprised with the lower SWS trust ratings for the president because the thrust in Dutertes governance runs contrary to the interest of ordinary people.

His charisma is slowly fading especially to the masses that are obviously the most victimized by his pro-oligarch and pro-foreign economic policies. No rosy picture of GDP growth or bright economic forecast will cover the real situation of ordinary Filipinos under his watch, he added.

Casilao cited as anti-people policies that had resulted in the fall of Dutertes popularity the following: the governments war on drugs which claimed more than 13,000 suspected drug personalities; the implementation of the TRAIN law which triggered the price hike of basic goods and services, failure to support the enactment of genuine land reform and his decision not to sign an executive order to help fight endo.

The SWS survey item regarding the peoples trust in the President is non-commissioned with sampling error margins of 3% for national percentages and 6% each for Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. (davaotoday.com)
