DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Davao residents are bracing for a long weekend after Malacañang declared August 18 a non-working holiday.

The date marks the city’s celebration of the 32nd Kadayawan Festival which will start on August 14 and will end on August 20.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed last July 20 Proclamation No. 273 declaring Aug. 18 as a special non-working day in Davao City.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Davao, be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” the Proclamation reads.
