DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A police officer here was shot dead on Monday morning, November 13, by men whose identities are yet to be uncovered by authorities.

Police Chief Inspector Teresita Gaspan, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office, said Police Officer 3 Wilfredo Garol Jr, 34 years old, sustained multiple gunshot wounds when he was attacked by armed men around 7:45 am in Purok 5, Sitio Luman, Barangay New Valencia.

“Two unidentified male persons hitched a ride on his motorcycle and upon arrival at place he was shot several times and took his service firearm and motorcycle,” Gaspan said.

Gaspan said Garol was currently assigned at the Baguio Police Station, this city.

DCPO chief Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum said Garol’s death “with be thoroughly investigated.”

“This incident will also serve as a strong warning to all personnel of DCPO that they cannot afford to relax their personal security because then it will cause them their lives,” Tagum said (davaotoday.com)
