DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Police Regional Office XI will deploy additional police personnel in every cemetery located here in Davao region during the observance of All Saints’ Day All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.

Police Regional Office spokesperson Chief Insp. Andrea dela Cerna announced that aside from the police officials assigned in Davao region, the PRO XI will also deploy additional 500 to 1,000 police personnel for the security of the general public during the observance of All Saints’ Day or ‘Undas’.

Dela Cerna said that the additional police personnel will be coming from the Regional Public Safety Battalion.

For the coordination, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will also assign “more or less” 90 percent of the DCPO personnel for the upcoming event.

“We will create an implant for the Oplan Kaluluwa for the coming Undas; we will deploy personnels especially in big cemeteries,” said Sr. Insp. Catherine dela Rey, DCPO spokesperson.

Dela Rey said that they have to deploy almost all police personnel since DCPO has to cover 32 public and private cemeteries here in the city.

Aside from the DCPO personnels, Dela Rey said that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Task Force (TF) Davao  and other security agencies will also be tapped.

Dela Rey said it is also prohibited to bring liquor, cigarettes and lighters, bladed weapons at the cemetery.

She also added that they allow “playing cards” inside the cemetery as long as the people will not gamble.

As part of the “Oplan Kaluluwa,” Dela Rey said police assistance desks will be put up inside the cemetery.

The police official also asked for the cooperation of the people to follow the instructions by law enforcers.

“I would like to ask the public to follow the instructions of the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) in their new traffic scheme to have a good flow,” she said.

Last Monday, Davao City Administrator  Zuleika Lopez announced that the City already coordinated with other various departments of the local government and the security groups for the preparation of the upcoming Undas.

Lopez said the preparations include a traffic plan, deployment of Central 911 emergency response units, safety and security protocols, among others.

She said they will present the final plan of the “Oplan Kaluluwa” on Monday, next week.(davaotoday.com)
