DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte asked for support from the National Government Agencies (NGAs) in the hosting of the city’s big events.

“I am here to solicit your support for the activities of Davao City in the first six months particularly the three very big sporting events,” the mayor said pertaining to the Davao Regional Athletic Association Meet this January, the Palarong Pambansa and the Iron Man event.

She also underscored the city’s celebration of the Araw ng Dabaw this March and the upcoming May 2019 election that will affect the implementation of programs given the election ban in government appointments.

The Mayor said the respective NGAs can help the city government by doing their jobs well to avoid complaints of the public.

“If all of you, all your employees, all your staff, Regional Directors and Assistant Regional Directors do your job, there will be less complaints and work for us and we can focus on the things that we need to do as the City Government of Davao,” the mayor said during the 1st Quarter Joint Flag-Raising Ceremony of the Association of Regional Executives of the National Agencies in Region XI, Monday, January 7 at People’s Park here.

Duterte recalled an instance when a complainant went to her office on the delay of document processing of a certain agency due to the election ban on appointments.

“I would like to remind everyone that while it is true that election ban was created so that partisan politics will not affect the functions and the duties of your office. But it does not mean that you will not work,” she said, pointing out that the agencies knew already of the election ban since last year.

“As we begin the work on the projects and programs that lie ahead – I would like to ask everyone that— we continue to deliver our services in the most efficient, prompt and responsive way as possible,” she added.

Mayor Duterte also urged the respective agencies to not wait for people to complain before they act and address their concerns as fast as possible. (With reports from Robby Joy D. Salveron/davaotoday.com)
