Mothers, kids bewail high price of rice

Edir complains that her earnings could hardly buy a kilo of rice. “In Erap’s time, we could buy rice at P10 a kilo,” she recalls the time of former President Joseph Estrada. “Now, rice is P18 per kilo under Gloria! The US FDA defines aflatoxin as toxic compounds produced by certain strains of the aspergillus fungus; it is toxic and carcinogenic. Exposure to high level of aflatoxin, according to the DOST, produces acute necrosis or tissue death, as well as cirrhosis and carcinoma of the liver.
