Agency hiring workers of Kentex factory missing, says labor group

DAVAO CITY – The service agency hired by Kentex Manufacturing Inc., is nowhere to be found, said militant labor group Kilusang Mayo Uno on Tuesday.

Rogelio Soluta, KMU secretary general, said letters from the National Labor Relations Commission sent to CJC Manpower Services address in Meycauayan, Bulacan “have been bouncing back”.

Soluta said the service agency’s buildings in Barangay Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela City are already closed.

Soluta cited news reports saying that 31 out of the more than 72 workers who died in the Kentex factory fire were employed by CJC Manpower Services.

“We are calling on the public to help us and the Justice for Kentex Workers Alliance to find out the address of the owners of CJC Manpower Services. We hold the capitalists of Kentex responsible for hiring what is even by government standards a fly-by-night service agency,” Soluta said.

Soluta said  the Department of Labor and Employment is also responsible “for failing to find out about the existence of CJC Manpower Services prior to the Kentex factory fire” and for failing to shut it down. (davaotoday.com)
