Gov’t to launch info drive on BBL

Mar. 20, 2015

The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process announced on Friday that the government will launch a “massive and intense” information and education campaign on the Bangsamoro Basic Law.

OPAPP Secretary Teresita Deles said that while 44 percent of Filipinos disagreed with the BBL, “a high percentage – 36 percent, also said they are undecided on their position.

In a survey conducted by Pulse Asia from March 1 to 7 only 21 percent of the 1,200 respondents favor the passage of the draft BBL. The survey showed the disagreement was more evident in Mindanao with 62 percent and Metro Manila 52 percent. Luzon and Visayas has 32 percent and 43 percent, respectively.

Deles said those undecided “would benefit from an intensified information, education, and communications program (IEC) on the BBL.”

She said an intense information blitz may also sway part of the 44 percent to support the draft law.
