LTFRB to confiscate franchise of PUVs caught not giving discounts

Mar. 30, 2015

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) warned public utility vehicles that they will confiscate their franchise if they are caught violating the policy of giving 20% fare discount to students, senior citizens, and persons with disability.

The LTFRB said those found in violation of Memorandum Circular 2011-004 Paragraph 12 and 13 will be fined with P1,000 to P5,000 penalty aside from the cancellation of the franchise.

Atty. Veronica Peralta, said the drivers are already aware of the said policy on giving fare discounts. The LTFRB also called on the public to report violators so that they would be penalized accordingly.
