Sabah group visits Mindanao for potential business ventures

DAVAO CITY— Business representatives from Lahad Datu of Tawau in Sabah joined the dialogue for potential business trade venture held recently at the Marco Polo hotel here in Davao City.

The Strategic Planning Meeting (SPM) was administrated by the Brunei Darussalam Indonesia Malaysia the Philippine East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) to pursue joint-ventures collaborations that will help them to have an extensive market reach.

“We welcome this initiative from the business sector of Sabah, since this will greatly contribute to our efforts of enhancing trade and investments within BIMP-EAGA,” said Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Undersecretary Janet Lopoz.

The 27 business representatives from Sabah were welcomed by over 20 business participants from Mindanao to discourse probable business deals in food production; restaurant industries and infrastructures. Local businesses were given a chance to showcase their products to the visitors.

BIMP-EAGA Business Council Chairman, Mr. Datuk Roselan Johor Mohamad, encouraged business groups especially in sub-regional grouping of Mindanao and Palawan to participate in inter-EAGA business ventures.

“EAGA’s private sector play the crucial role of stirring the sub-region’s business climate and we urge them to pursue joint-venture collaborations that will expand their market reach,” he said

The BIMP-EAGA aims to increase trade, tourism and investments inside and outside the sub-region through facilitating investment expositions and business conferences among member countries. (davaotoday.com)
