Thai-owned residence project in Davao City “a first in Asia”

Jun. 28, 2015

DAVAO CITY – A Thai company said the “serviced apartment” it launched in Davao City last Friday is the first in Asia.

Evelyn Singson, president and vice chairman of Philippine Hoteliers Incorporated, said Dusit Thani Residences are currently located in  Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Dusit Thani Residence, which features 168 full-service units, is touted to open new options for upscale accommodation for long-staying business travelers from all over the world.

“We have planned this urban residence and hotel to exude a resort-like experience that combines Filipino warmth and joyfulness, and Dusit’s trademark personalized Thai hospitality,” said Singson.

Singson said that the company has partnered with Torre Lorenzo, a Filipino real estate developer, in the conceptualization and construction of the project and the adjoining Dusit D2 Hotel.

The highlight of the project is the “amenity theater” that fosters community and shared activities.

The amenity theater contains the swimming pools, water features and decks amidst a tropical landscaped setting. Complementing the central feature are the dining outlets, function rooms, children’s play area, and wellness facilities.

The property is located within Torre Lorenzo’s Siam 8000 property complex in Maryknoll Road, Lanang, Davao City.

“The location is strategic in two ways. First, the Residences are located in a major business hub south of the Philippines, which we see will help contribute to local investments and economic opportunities,” said Tomas Lorenzo, president of Torre Lorenzo.

“Secondly, being situated within city limits allows our residents to create a productive and enjoyable work-life balance,” he added.

Once completed, Dusit Thani Residence “will provide easy access to the main activities of the city.” (Diana C. Tomale/davaotoday.com)
