Today, we commemorate the survival of Planet Earth. We rejoice in the thought of the Earth’s continued existence. It has lasted across millions of years and has provided humankind with its life-giving essences—air, water, fire, all the elements contained in the soil.
At the same time, we lament the facts of despoliation perpetrated by Earth’s beneficiaries themselves—unscrupulous human who have disconnected themselves from a harmonious union with Nature which is Earth’s generic substance.
Today, humankind—as stewards of the Earth, as Nature’s caregivers entrusted with its infinite endowments and provisions for all the peoples of all countries—must needs renew our solemn commitment to abide by the sacred mandate of the Earth’s life principle. We need to bind our very own self—the force of our spirit and the substance of our flesh—with the Life Principle of the Earth.
Oath
We, creatures of Water and Earth
We who are molded from a dash of dust
We who have stood erect in strength
Not by a shaft of wood, stone or steel,
But by the Water of Life shaped up
As Humans to the likeness of Bathala…
We — we now recite this sacred Oath,
Proclaim and resound in one voice
The divine purpose of the existence
Of Water as the Life Principle
That eternally pulsates and stirs,
Energizes the core fibers and nerves
In the flesh and vessels of our body ,
In the agility and alertness of animals,
In the delicate wings of the tiny insects,
In the beaks of birds whose falsetto trills
Enshrine the meaning of Freedom,
In the spurting rhythm of springwater
From the mouths of rocks and hill slopes,
In the celebratory impulses of Living Art,
Spiritual libations that cleanse the Earth.
We stake here our uttermost competence,
Valor, daring sharpness of our intellect.
We shall fortify the union of our heartbeats
Like the droplets of dew in the forests
That collect and flow as raging headwaters;
Like breezes that bundle up their thrusts
As surging assaults of the habagat.
Let us in unison brandish in the winds
Our solemn Pledge of Commitment,
By the manifest power of our tongues
And shining blades of our words,
To preserve the integrity of the Water!

Nagsangyaw ug nagpalanog sa usa ka tingog
Sa balaang katuyoan sa katunhayan
Sa Tubig isip Lintungany sa Kinabuhi
Nga way-hunong nag-uylap ug nagkisaw,
Nagpabaskog sa subok nga mga gihay ug lanotaw
Sa mga unod ug kaugatan sa among lawas,
Sa kapiskay ug kaigmat sa mga hayop,
Sa talandogong mga pako sa gagmayng mananap,
Sa sungo sa mga langgam kansang tagming piyak
Naghimaya sa kahulogan sa Kagawasan,
