NCCA opens its grants program for 2013

Proposals must capture NCCA’s vision: “Filipino culture as the wellspring of national and global well-being”.

DAVAO CITY, PHILIPPINES – The National Commission for the Culture and the Arts (NCCA) announced the opening of the 2013 grants program in a press briefing here Thursday.

Renee C. Talavera, NCCA’s head of the Sub-Commission on Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts personally made the announcement during the said press briefing.

Talavera called all cultural and art groups, academic institutions, local arts organizations, non-government organizations in Mindanao to submit project proposals related to programs in culture and arts.

The deadline for the submission of proposals is set on August 30, 2012.

She added that for the year 2013 priority proposals must fall under the concerns of the four sub-commissions as defined by the 19 national committees of NCCA namely, the sub-commission on arts, the sub-commission on cultural communities, the sub-commission on cultural heritage and the sub-commission on cultural dissemination.

Proposals must capture NCCA’s vision: “Filipino culture as the wellspring of national and global well-being”.

In a statement distributed after the briefing, the Commission’s Public Affairs and Information Office said that “projects must establish culture as pillar of sustainable development, advance creativity and diversity of artistic expression, and promote a strong sense of nationhood and pride in being Filipino through culture and arts.”

Grants program of the NCCA, through the National Endowment Fund for Culture and the Arts or NEFCA is aimed to support “individuals and organizations in fields that are aligned with the Philippine culture and arts and in accordance with the defined priorities of each of national committees.”
