DAVAO CITY – The Davao City Police Office received yesterday about P2.5-million worth of equipment to deal with incidents relating to explosive and ordinance (EOD).
The new equipment includes a bomb suit that can protect bomb-disposal experts to withstand the impact of an explosion from a 60mm mortar. There is also a bomb disruptor used in detonation of improvised explosive devices.
Senior Superintendent Gatera said the equipment provides more protection to the DCPO EOD team as they are the ones responding to EOD related incidents.
DCPO spokersperson chief inspector Milgrace Driz said the equipment would be of big help to the EOD team, particularly in responding to situations like bombing incidents.
The turnover ceremony was held at the DCPO headquarters in Camp Domingo Leonor Tuesday with high-ranking city and regional police officials led by Senior Superintendent Marvin Pepino deputy city director for administration and Senior Supt. Restito Gatera, who is Regional Logistics and Supply Division head. (davaotoday.com)
