DAVAO CITY — President Rodrigo Duterte will deliver a “very powerful speech” this afternoon, July 25, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said.
Andanar told reporters here on Sunday morning, July 24, that after more than 10 revisions, Duterte’s speech “will awaken the patriot in every Filipino.”
“When I read the speech, ayoko pong mag exaggerate pero the first time I read the speech, it made me cry. Ganoon po kaganda, ganoon po kabagbag damdamin (When I read the speech, I do not want to exaggerate, but it was the first time I read the speech, it made me cry. That’s how beautiful and moving it is),” he said.
Andanar said the speech would probably last for 38 minutes “as based on our application of used online to calculate on our actual.”
“If you would include the applause, and some ad-lib by the President, it could take longer,” he said.
He said the people could expect more “surprises” from the President’s speech.
“Asahan niyo po na ang State of the Nation Address bukas ng Pangulo ay mas marami pang sorpresa, regalo ang ating Pangulong Duterte sa sambayanang Pilipino (You can expect more surprises during the President’s State of the Nation Address, it’s the gift of President Duterte to the Filipino people),” said Andanar.
