DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A city official said the gathering of city mayors and entrepreneurs could boost the city’s economic agenda.
In a City Information Office dispatch, Davao City administrator Zulieka T. Lopez said the forum discussed the connectivity established between China and Asean cities.
“The forum was seen as beneficial for the city as it opens up to foreign investors and tourists,” Lopez said.
The 2016 China-ASEAN Mayors Forum held in Nanning, China was participated by mayors and entrepreneurs from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations including China.
It highlights the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” and “China-Asean Urban Community Building” focused on the cooperation between China and Asean cities.
“The forum was all about the One Belt, One Road,” Lopez said. “They are hoping that the Asean countries, which the Philippines is a part of, will unite together in terms of the objective of connectivity not just on digital but also in infrastructure.”
