DAVAO CITY – The Philippine National Police in Davao Region (PNP PRO-11) assured the public of orderly opening of classes in the region.
In a statement to the media on Sunday, June 4, PNP PRO-11 spokesperson Chief Inspector Andrea de la Cerna said they are in close coordination with other local government agencies for the opening of the school year on Monday, June 5.
“As the lead agency in charge of crime prevention, security and peace and order, Police Assistance Desks (PADs) in all schools region-wide, to include airports, seaports, transport terminals, malls, business centers and in all other areas of convergence will be established,” De la Cerna said.
She added that mobile and foot patrols will also be conducted by PNP PRO 11 personnel to guarantee safety and security in all major routes, especially within school vicinities.
“Motorists, private school bus and especially public utility vehicle drivers are advised to observe the prohibition on overloading public utility vehicles, to avoid accidents and ensure maximum safety of students,” she added.
PNP PRO 11 is also reminding all parents and students to be cautious and refrain in communicating or transacting with strangers; in the ostentatious display of pieces of jewelry; bringing large amount of money; posting personal details on Facebook and other social media entities; going/walking out alone; and using cellular phones especially texting while crossing streets.
“With the declaration of Martial Law in whole Mindanao PRO 11 assures the public that all PNP personnel of this region will uphold human rights and will perform official duties within the bounds of the law,” she said.
PNP PRO 11 also encouraged the public to be vigilant and support to the PNP through sharing of vital information relative to peace and order to nearest police station.
Thousands of students, as well as parents, are expected to troop to public and private schools in the region as the school year will officially open on Monday. (davaotoday.com)
