In Marilog, Voters Couldn?t Find Names, Precincts Don?t Have Enough Lighting for Counting Tonight

MARILOG, Davao City — Several voters at the Marilog Central Elementary School complained today that they could not find their names on the voters? list. Reynaldo Bacalso, 49, said a number of the voters failed to vote as a result.

Many of the voters came from the sitios of Quimasog, Santo Nino and Lomondao, all of this barangay. They complained, Bacalso said, that their votes had gone to waste.

In Toril, Last-Minute Vote Buying Exposed

TORIL, Davao City — Some candidates in the city’s Third District had a last minute vote-buying spree in Crossing Bayabas last night.

This is according to Boy, a driver and operator of public utility jeepney. Although Boy provided davaotoday.com with his full name, he request anonymity for fear of his safety.

Arroyo to blame for low turn-out in Philippines overseas vote

MANILA — The country?s broadest alliance of OFWs and their families today laid the blame for the low OAV turn out on Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

?If OFW voters are disillusioned and disenfranchised, it?s because of the Arroyo regime. In this regard, it is completely unjust for the DFA and the Comelec to even suggest thoughts of scrapping the OAV mechanism altogether. Given the boundless sacrifices OFWs endure to remit billions of dollars into the economy ? it?s downright dastardly for top Arroyo officials to even suggest this ?total disenfranchisement? of OFWs,? says Maita Santiago, Migrante International Secretary-General.
