Mindanao Ombudsman Launches Campaign Vs Misuse of Govt Vehicles

DAVAO CITY — The Office of the Ombudsman in Mindanao has announced that it is now tightly monitoring the use of government vehicles, through its program called Task Force Oplan Red Plate.

The monitoring began more than three weeks ago and entails the deployment of personnel to various areas in the city such as beaches, entertainment spots, parks, malls and markets. The monitoring teams take photographs or videos of vehicles with red plates, which is the color assigned to all government-owned vehicles, said Rodolfo Elman, director of the Office of the Ombudsman in Mindanao.

The film’s working title is Huling Baylan ng Buhi (The Last Priestess of Buhi). It is about the conflicts faced by an ethnic family in the ?80s in their attempts to keep the tribe’s tradition, which is threatened with extinction by outside influences.

DAVAO CITY ? A young Davaoe?o filmmaker will join the “2nd Annual Cinema One Originals,” with his first ever full-length venture based on a story of the indigenous Mandaya people in the region.

Sherad Anthony Sanchez, the 21-year-old Davaoe?o who will direct the film, said the project will not only showcase Davaoe?o talent but culture as well.

Samosa is much like the Filipino empanada (pie). The only difference is the spice, which can be quite hot, and the vegetarian filling.

Samosa is not common in Davao City. In fact, we think the only place you can buy these pies is at the Indian Mini-Mart (House of Spices), just across the Saint Paul Church in Juna Subdivision, in Matina.

DAVAO CITY — They thought they could finally heave a sigh of relief when they transferred to the riverside upon receiving an earlier notice to vacate their homes.
