Mindanaoans Told: ?Cha-Cha Will Bring Out the Best in Pinoys?

The people of Mindanao should take the lead in the campaign to amend the Constitution and shift to a parliamentary-federal form of government, says Joji Ilagan-Bian

TAGUM CITY — Constitutional reform will bring out the best in Filipinos.

So claimed Charter Change Advocacy Commission chairman Lito Lorenzana yesterday, Tuesday, as he and three other AdCom members explained their proposed amendments in a symposium here attended by members of grassroots organizations.

“The elements in the proposed Charter change — parliamentary form, federalism and economic liberalization — will bring about a positive change in the way we Filipinos live our daily lives,? Lorenzana said. ?It will bring out the best in business and economic trade. It will bring out the best in political governance.”

Councilor Wants to Ban ?Text Spamming?

DAVAO CITY — Davao City Councilor Pilar Braga is pushing for the banning of ?text spamming? due to mounting complaints from consumers.

Owners or users of mobile phones are complaining that they have been subjected to unsolicited text messages, which consisted of promotional and marketing materials and passed on to consumers without their (consumers) consent, Braga said.

City Forms Team to Go After Litterbugs

DAVAO CITY — The city government, on orders of Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte, has formed a group to arrest persons found violating the city?s garbage disposal program.

Duterte said he wanted a sustained cleanup of wastes around the city to give Dabawenyos a healthy environment.

City Environment and Natural Resources chief Ann Silvoza said the city?s ?Basura Patrol? has been strengthened with the formation of the anti-littering team.
