Social justice for poor, homeless not excessive demands, group claims

While the urban poor group Kadamay lauded the recent passage of a resolution by President Rodrigo Duterte that allowed the re-distribution of idle housing units of uniformed personnel to new beneficiaries, the group also reminded the President that providing housing for the poor and homeless is not excessive.

Bill on labor safety approved by Congress bicam

A bicameral conference committee (bicam) by the Lower and Upper House approved on Monday a bill which seeks to strengthen compliance of employees with occupational safety and health standards (OSHS). It also seeks to amend the 41-year-old Labor Code of the Philippines which, at present, does not declare unlawful violations of OSHS.

An international indigenous people (IP) group on Thursday commended the move of local government units (LGU) in Northern Luzon for coming out with resolutions opposing the terrorist tagging by the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte of human rights advocates.
