Funeral for human rights victim marred with more harassments, leaders say

By MARILOU AGUIRRE-TUBURAN Davao Today About 150 Pablo victims under Barug Katawhan from Compostela Valley were blocked by the police while passing through the towns of Mati, Lupon and Banaybanay on Wednesday, according to Hanimay Suazo of rights group Karapatan. They were supposed to attend the tribute for Cristina Jose last night.

Pablo victims hopeful as mining firm agrees to pay for damages

MORANDANTE Davao Today Alan Montecalvo, Indug’s spokesperson said Apex’s dumping of soil into the river has aggravated flooding when typhoon Pablo brought rains last December.  The floods totally damaged 54 houses, partially damaged 30 houses and also damaged their livelihood including crops and farm animals.  It also destroyed the bridge and riverways and killed two residents.
