CPP’s openness for bilateral pact with gov’t welcomed

Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus G. Dureza and peace advocate Sowing the Seeds of Peace in Mindanao welcomed the Communist Party of the Philippines’ ‘openness’ to ink a bilateral ceasefire agreement with the government if President Rodrigo Duterte decides to send the government panel to the scheduled talks on February 22-27 in the Netherlands.

Independent think tank and research group IBON said that Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte should stand firm with the decision of Department of Environment and Natural Resources to close several mining companies after it failed to pass the agency’s mining audit.

CPP gives ‘go’ signal to ink bilateral ceasefire

To ensure the success of the bilateral ceasefire negotiations, CPP said that the government could “help facilitate the travel of the NDFP’s ceasefire committee member and consultants.”
