The Davao Light Power Corp. (DLPC) warned that forcing to meet the demand for continuous electricity than what the generation sources could supply may cause a total shutdown of the Mindanao grid.

Complicated issues on the right-of-way (ROW), the easement of transmission lines and the recent bombings of transmission towers, if not addressed, will worsen the power supply situation in Mindanao, top-ranking officers of the Mindanao Power Monitoring Committee (MPMC) said.

Power sector leaders will convene in Davao City on Thursday, February 4, to address several problems harrowing the Mindanao grid, the island's socio-economic planning agency said.

There is more to do for the proper implementation of the executive order (EO) instituting the proper handling and disposal of used cooking oil in Davao City after a local official bared that majority of the food establishments here are still unaware of the law which classifies used cooking oil as a “hazardous waste”.
