Philippines’s Net FDIs for January-February Climb to US$633 Million

MANILA – Foreign direct investments (FDIs) registered a net inflow of US$551 million in February 2007. This brought the two-month FDI level to US$633 million, significantly higher by 33.5 percent from US$474 million in the comparable period a year ago.

Philippines’s exports up by 10.6% in March, exceed full-year targer

MANILA — Merchandise exports increased by 10.6 percent to $4.6 billion in March from the 7.8 percent growth the previous month. The upsurge brought total export revenues in the first quarter to 13.1 percent or US$12.3 billion, which is within the full-year target of 11 percent.

Data from the National Statistics Office (NSO) attributed that the increase to the growth of semiconductors (14.1%), machinery and transport equipment (8.7%) and mineral products (77.1%).

Youths urge Davao bets to prioritize reproductive health

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Davao Teen Center (DTC), together with the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP), demanded the local candidates of Davao City to include Reproductive Health (RH) policies as their top priority in their legislative agenda.

Jamail Lunar Macla, Youth Coordinator of DTC, pointed that this has been a long time struggle of young people in the city that the problem in reproductive health must be prioritized since there are no comprehensive local legislative order to arrest the said problem of the city.
