“Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) and the strong peso are boosting us.”

Thus enthused Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesperson Ignacio R. Bunye over the report of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) that FDIs “recorded net inflows of US$357 million, or a year-on-year growth of almost 51 percent” in January 2007 alone.

Davao Light-Assisted Lumad Scholars Get College Degree

Three of 20 indigenous people (IP) or lumads who are assisted in their college studies by the Aboitiz-owned Davao Light and Power Company through the Mindanawon Initiatives for Cultural Dialogue (Mindanawon) graduated last March 24, while one finished her course last October but joined the graduation rites also last month.

AIM Brings 4-Day Course to Davao

Satur to push P10-B fund for elderly’s mandatory health insurance

Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo today vowed to push for mandatory health
insurance for all Filipino senior citizens in the next Congress.

“Filipino senior citizens deserve to obtain mandatory health insurance
after offering most of their lives to helping uplift their families
and the nation,” said Ocampo, himself a senior citizen who turned 68
on Saturday.
