Colonial-mindedness should have been a thing of the past among us Filipinos.  But it seems, the political helmsmen of our government, the educators and cultural policymakers of our society, are just drifting along with the trends set by the Americans.  They should know better than to cater to these hollow circus brands of cultural acts.  These only paint a deprecatory image of ourselves as a people and nation.

The NPA said their “active counter-intelligence and subsequent operations” were meant to punish AFP units, especially the Civil Military Operations Battalion headed by Maj. Jake Obligado, for continuing to “encroach, settle and conduct psychological warfare and intelligence operations” in the villages of Paquibato District.

Captain Raul Villegas, public affairs officer of the 10th ID, said that Corporal Emmanuel Quezon; Privates First Class Ronald Gura, Bernie Padilla and Donato Estandia; and Private Marteniano Pasiagas Jr. were allegedly taken by the New People’s Army (NPA) under Leoncio ‘Ka Parago’ Pitao on Monday afternoon in Sitio Lubas, Paquibato Proper village in Paquibato District.
