A Global Campaign on Violence Against Children with the theme: Worldwide Day of Action to End Violence Against Children and Corporal Punishment will commence on October 19 this year to remind all nations of its vow to protect and uphold the rights of the children regardless of age, sex, color, religion, ethnicity, race and status.

Duterte wants child-protection law scrapped

Duterte said teenagers today are different from those in the past and, at 15, he believed a boy already has discernment. He also thought the Juvenile Justice Law, which says children below 15 cannot be held criminally liable, is open to abuse -- a lot of criminals could get away with crime because of this, he said. He called the law myopic and impractical.

Karapatan Davao rebukes Arroyo’s ‘hypocritical’ speech at UN

DAVAO CITY ? Human rights group Karapatan- Southern Mindanao sharply rebuked President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo’s speech delivered at the 62nd Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York last Friday. The president, in her address said that Philippines is the most democratic country in Asia-Pacific Region and did not even tolerate human rights violations in the country.
