EMPOWER COMMUNITIES. Office of Civil Defense (OCD) XI Information Officer Adrian Nouve B. Cobero says it is important for local government units to empower communities through trainings and other activities to make them resilient in times of disasters. In a press conference at the Big 8 Hotel in Tagum City on Tuesday, July 11 Cobero also urged the public to take drills seriously. Army says 8 NPAs killed in ComVal clash; 2-day fighting killed troopers in Bukidnon

The 10th Infantry (Agila) Division of the Philippine Army said eight New People’s Army rebels were killed in a clash that took place on Wednesday morning in Compostela Valley while the NPAs in Bukidnon province reported the death of four soldiers after two days of armed encounters in the area.

An official of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Crisis Committee who is directly monitoring the situation of affected residents after the siege in Marawi City is appealing to the national government to extend more help to hundreds of thousands of internally displaced individuals.
