Sumifru defies labor order to reinstate 600 terminated union workers

Around 500 workers of the Japanese banana firm Sumitomo Fruits Corporation (Sumifru) awaited outside their plant at Barangay San Jose, Compostela, Compostela Valley province on Tuesday, expecting they will return to work after a year-long struggle for their reinstatement.

CPP warns Duterte against arming fire protection personnel

President Rodrigo Duterte will "regret" plans to arm firemen and include them in the anti-insurgency campaign of the government, said the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
