The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced that they already stopped their military operations against the New People’s Army (NPA) but “will continue to support law enforcement in communities” following the declaration of President Rodrigo Duterte of a unilateral ceasefire with the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
The National Operational Command of the New People’s Army has ordered all units and commands of the NPA to stay in “active defense mode” as it welcomes the declaration of the unilateral ceasefire by President Rodrigo Duterte during his State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 25.
Leaders of progressive groups from Mindanao said they talked with President Rodrigo Duterte about the agenda of the Lumads in Mindanao in a meeting the President called for them after he gave his first State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 25.
Duterte's 10 priorities are poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, solid waste management, health, education, agriculture, tourism, transportation planning and traffic management, peace and order, and disaster risk reduction and mitigation.
The City Transport and Traffic Management Office warned motorists that authorities will now tow vehicles parked along major streets.
