The New People’s Army, armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines, said communities across the country are clamoring to end the truce with government because the military continued to commit violations of the ceasefire declaration.

The cease and desist order issued by the Department of Agrarian Reform recently did not prevent plantation guards of Lapanday Food Corporations, Inc. from evicting farmers occupying the contested San Isidro farm area inside the Hijo plantation in Barangay Madaum in Tagum City on New Year’s eve.
“There is a need for longer maternity leave because we are not born mothers. We become mothers. It takes time to adjust to our roles, get to know our body and our baby,” said LATCH Davao founding member Alex Hao.
