Furukawa Administration Building | Daliao Toril. The building is presently occupied by the Board of Liquidators, under the Office of the President of the Philippines | The building and the adjacent area total to approximately 3,000 square meters. Its original structure was patterned to the letter “H” (top view). The building was built during the 1920’s, and was the administration building of Furukawa Takushouko, a Japanese who was into the abaca fiber business. (Data from Davao City Tourism Office) | |
Furukawa Fiber Plant | In front of the Furukawa Administration Building, the plant is now owned by the National Development Company (NDC), under the Department of Trade and Industry. | The plant was 27 hectares big then, which comprised Furukawa’s abaca plantation, and its manufacturing and storage facilities. Japanese Pier & Bunker | Located at the back portion of the Furukawa Fiber Plant | It was then the site of trade and commerce before the 2 nd World War, more specifically in the transport of abaca materials to Japan. Ohta Monument & Barracks | Found inside the Mintal Elementary School in Mintal. | The shrine was built in honor of Otha Kyosaburu, a Japanese who was into the Abaca business before the World War II.
