The cultural group of the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP), Teatro Ekyumenikal, will stage a play today, Oct. 21 that tackles the plight of indigenous peoples in the country.
Dubbed as “Damdamdam….Para Kanino ang Kaunlaran?” the play wishes to highlight the reasons why 3,000 indigenous peoples and Moro have embarked on Lakbayan ng Pambansang Minorya and are now in the nation’s capital.
The play, directed by Rommel F. Linatoc will be staged at the Rizal Open Air Auditorium at the Luneta Park on Oct. 31 at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Teatro Ekyumenikal is part of the evangelisation program of the NCCP, which aims to bring the Word of God to the public. The theatre group has taken inspiration from the real struggles of our indigenous brothers and sisters who have been displaced and threatened by development aggression projects.
The play comes a few days after the violent dispersal of peaceful protest actions by Sandugo, the newly-formed national minority alliance. (PR)
