DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has solicited 11,882 vacancies for both local and overseas jobs as of April 13.
In time for Labor Day, the DOLE in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will be conducting “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” (TNK) Job and Business Fairs on May 1 and 2.
The TNK Job and Business Fair was first conducted last year. It aims not only to provide job opportunities but also to promote entrepreneurship through business fairs.
The DTI will be conducting their Diskwento Caravan and business seminars.
The Diskwento Caravan (Discount Caravan) has been conducted by the DTI for many years in order to sell goods to consumers at discounted prices. It is a public service conducted by theDTI in partnership with big manufacturer and/or distributors.
Also, DOLE–assisted livelihood associations will be present for the livelihood fair.
Marlito Ayala, DOLE XI Employment Focal Person, said the construction industry has the most number of job vacancies at present.
Mason, carpenter, tile setter, and rebarman are said to be the top four most in demand job here in the city.
Meanwhile, Gemma Estrada, DTI Specialist, said that they will conduct skills training to those who want to start a business.
A financing program will be provided to those who are in need of capital, she added.
This year’s 115th Labor Day Celebration has the theme “Pagpugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino: Dangal ng lahi, kabalikat sa progresibong pagbabago.”
Around 116 employers indicated their intention to participate: 75 local companies and 41 overseas placement agencies.
There will be a pre-registration at the Gaisano Mall and SM City of Davao starting April 26 until April 30.
The job fair activity will be held also at the Gaisano Mall for a day and at SM City for two days, May 1 and 2, 2018. (davaotoday.com)
