HONOLULU — Despite the ousting of the government of Thailand’s Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his Thai Rak Thai Party (TRT) in a coup last September and the stepped up reconciliation efforts of the new government in Bangkok under Surayudh Chulanont, the killings and attacks engulfing Thailand’s southern border region, home to over a million Malay-speaking Thai Muslims, show little sign of abating.

Philippines warns against deployment of pregnant OFWs to Jordan

MANILA ? Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Jose P. del Rosario reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Embassy has issued an advisory against the deployment of pregnant OFWs to Jordan after the Embassy faced complications in repatriating these women after they give birth because of the strict rules of Jordan ? a conservative Muslim country ? against issuing birth documents if there is no proof of the marital status of the child’s parents.

What is Palparan doing in Lanao?

Bayan Muna Rep. Teodoro Casi?o, whose group was the alleged target of killers allegedly let loose by Palparan when he was still a general, said this morning that Palparan is in Lanao del Sur and wondered what the infamous general was doing there. "He should keep his hands off the special elections there," Casi?o said, referring to the special elections to be held tomorrow in more than a dozen areas in Lanao del Sur, where fraud have allegedly been rampant.
