U2 confirmed to contribute exclusive track to album

Green Day will release a cover version of John Lennon?s ?Working Class Hero? on Tuesday 1 May. The track, which features a sample of Lennon?s original vocal, was recorded exclusively for the forthcoming Make Some Noise album for Amnesty International and will be available as a download from the iTunes store and other music sites.

NANJING — How good are China-Japan relations today? So good that the museum here to commemorate the 1937 massacre by Japanese Imperial Army soldiers is closed for renovation. That?s remarkable since this is the 70th anniversary of the massacre and criticism of historical revisionism of Japan has been a staple of Chinese diplomacy for the past few years.

Backsliders: The 10 countries where press freedom has most deteriorated

New York, May 2, 2007?Two Asian nations?Pakistan and Thailand?are among the countries worldwide where press freedom has deteriorated the most over the last five years, a new analysis by the Committee to Protect Journalists has found. Pakistan ranks No. 6 following alarming increases in the murders and abductions of journalists. Thailand comes in 10th because of the new military government?s sweeping effort to control broadcast media.

China?s ?new diplomacy? goes to Tokyo

In the last few years, China has significantly adjusted its strategy toward neighboring countries and greatly improved relations with most of them. But until very recently, Japan was the only holdout in Beijing?s otherwise successful ?peripheral diplomacy.? The political ties between the two nations were almost frozen during Prime Minister Koizumi Junichiro?s tenure. The relationship, however, has experienced a dramatic turn in the last six months. With Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao?s short but highly successful visit to Japan, China?s ?new diplomacy? finally reached Tokyo.
