Philippines Joins Clamor for Int’l Unit, Action on Energy Security, Climate Change

MANILA — Philippine Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Hilario G. Davide, Jr. reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that on 17 April 2007 the Philippines joined the mounting clamor for greater international attention on energy security and climate change, saying member-states of the United Nations must work together to attain the much needed consensus for speedy cooperation and action on these issues.

?There is an extreme urgency for international community-wide prioritization, including at regional and national levels, to address the challenges posed by energy security and climate change,? Ambassador Davide said in his statement during an open debate of the Security Council.

Philippines: Pacquiao Says He Will Respect Outcome of Elections

GENERAL Santos City ? Congressional bet Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao said that he will respect the outcome of the May 14 elections after signing the covenant last Wednesday here at the Sanguniang Panglungsod session hall.

?Irerespeto ko kung sino man yung pipilin ng mga tao,? said the 28-year old Pacquiao, who is running against incumbent Congresswoman Darlene Antonino-Custodio in the First District of South Cotabato.

Arroyo Extends Philippines’s Full Cooperation in Campbell Probe

MANILA — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is extending the Philippine government?s “full cooperation” in the United States ongoing investigation on the circumstances that led to the death of US Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell.

Press Secretary and concurrent Presidential Spokesperson Ignacio R. Bunye said in a statement this morning the President “is saddened” by the death of the Peace Corps worker.
