Key Issues for Asia’s Future to Be Addressed at ADB Annual Meeting in Kyoto, Japan

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Where does Asia stand a decade after the Asian financial crisis? What are the challenges to Asian integration? How will the developing economies of Asia adapt to the vast changes underway in the region?

Finance Ministers, senior government officials, leaders, academics, and representatives of international organizations will gather in Kyoto, Japan to discuss these and other issues during ADB?s 40th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in May.

Electronics Still Top Philippines Export — NEDA

MANILA — Electronics remained the country?s top exports product in February accounting for 63.5 percent of income from exports. Semiconductors led the electronics group with a 48.45-percent share totaling $1.79 billion worth of export earnings.

?The global demand for electronics has supported exports in Asia, including the Philippines,? Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director General Romulo L. Neri said.

US Seeks Help for Missing Peace Corps Volunteer in Philippines

INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE SOUGHT REGARDING MISSING U.S. PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEER, REWARD OFFERED

The United States Embassy in the Philippines is seeking information on the welfare and whereabouts of Ms. Julia Campbell, a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer missing since April 8, 2007.

Julia Campbell has served as a college teacher in Legazpi, Southern Luzon since she began her Peace Corps service in the Philippines in March 2005.

Philippines’s Arroyo Welcomes Manny Pacquiao

MANILA — Although without the usual pomp and fanfare, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo welcomed warmly today the People?s Champ and boxing idol Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao by personally greeting him at the foyer of Malaca?ang?s Rizal Hall before proceeding to the Music Room for a closed-door meeting.
