?Heed the people?s call, include family planning in your platform of government or lose in the election!? ? The Forum

This was the strong statement of population advocacy The Forum for Family Planning and Development as the latest result of Ulat ng Bayan Pulse Asia survey indicates 8 out of 10 Filipinos deems it important for candidates to include family planning in their program of action.

?The data from the latest survey of Pulse Asia will speak for itself, the people deems it important that candidates makes a stand on the issue of population. The candidates should not just shrugged off their shoulders and ignore the peoples? clamor for such measures,? said Benjamin de Leon, President of The Forum for Family Planning and Development.

Environmental activists today urged a government probe on a $6 million air pollution monitoring project between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and a private joint venture, expressing grave concern over highly-questionable transactions and suspicious actions of senior government officials, including DENR Secretary Angelo Reyes and a prominent administration congressman.

Philippines: More Microfinancing Access for Mindanao’s Poorest Provinces Urged

The government has asked the microfinance sector to widen the access the marginalized sector to credit windows by expanding their operations in the 10 poorest provinces of Mindanao.

Secretary Domingo F. Panganiban, lead convenor of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) has urged the nation?s microfinance institution to help reduce poverty in Mindanao by expanding their operations in the countryside.

SM City Davao to Open IT Park

DAVAO CITY — With many investors on information and communication technology (ICT) scouting for space to locate, the coming in of SM City to develop an IT park is very timely.

Davao City council committee chair on trade, commerce and industry Peter Lavina in an interview said several interested locators wanting to come to Davao but could not find the right place.
