The Swedish Mercantile Marine Foundation rewards a Filipino seafarer

In the presence of Hon. Secretary Arturo D. Brion of the Department of Labour and Employment and H.E. Annika Markovic, Ambassador of Sweden to the Philippines, Mr. Christer Themn?r – Chairman of the foundation will present a reward of SEK 25 000,00 (approx. PhP 170 000,00) and a diploma to Mr. Jesus Sumook in a simple awarding ceremony on Monday, 16 April 2007 at 5:00 p.m. at the Office of the Secretary in Intramuros, Manila.

Philippines: Police Seize 84-Million Peso Worth of Fake Vuitton, Lacoste

PNP seizes P84 million worth of LV and Lacoste fakes
Brings total haul of NCIPR to P3.3 billion

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted recently a back-to-back raid, and confiscated counterfeit Louis Vuitton and Lacoste items valued at more than P84 million. The newly created CIDG Anti-Economic Task Force directed the operation dubbed Oplan Mega Shoppers in Harrison Plaza Shopping Center in Manila and Market, Market Shopping Mall in Taguig. Close to P80 million worth of Louis Vuitton knockoffs were seized in 17 stalls inside Harrison Plaza while P4 million worth of fake Lacoste items were seized in seven stalls in Market, Market.

AFP chief of staff Esperon should order AFP command in Panay to surface and release abducted activists

Anakpawis Representative and political detainee Crispin Beltran today demanded that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) local command in Panay island immediately surface and release alive and unharmed the leaders of Anakpawis Party-list they abducted yesterday. He challenged AFP chief of staff Hermogenes Esperon to surrender the officials and commanders of the AFP command in Panay and have them take account for the shooting and abduction of the activists.

Sexy Models Want Fans to Know That Wild Animals Don?t Belong in Zoos

Manila ? Posing in a jungle setting with their naked bodies covered only with painted-on tiger stripes next to the tagline ?Even the Wildest Animals Don?t Belong in Zoos,? top Filipino models Ornusa Cadness and Borgy Manotoc appear together in the first of a series of three ads for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia-Pacific. Local postcard advertising company YOCard has printed 10,000 postcards of the ad and is now offering them at various restaurants, bars, bookstores, and cultural areas around the metro free of charge. The couple also stars individually in print ads with the tagline ?Keep Wild Animals Free?Boycott the Zoo.? The ads were shot by ace photographer and PETA volunteer Xander Angeles. Indie film luminary Dante Mendoza donated his services to create the amazing set, and Leo Posadas was behind the makeup for the shoot.
