Military Denounced for Abuses in Talaingod, Digos

DAVAO CITY ? The human-rights group Karapatan has denounced the so-called ?Re-engineered Special Operations Team? of the 39th Infantry Battalion under Lt. Jerald Ho for allegedly sowing fear and terror among residents of sitio Bandera Brgy. Balabag in Digos City.

The group also criticized the military for the alleged human rights violations perpetrated by elements of the 73rd Infantry Battalion, the Cafgu paramilitary group and Alamara militia against the Ata-Manobo tribe in Talaingod town, Davao del Norte.

Willie Nep Show in Davao Slated

DAVAO CITY — Clean Cities Davao Coalition, a multisectoral group that aims to promote the use of clean alternative fuels, will be bringing top comedic impersonator Willie Nepumoceno to Davao City for a comedy concert show.

The show, entitled ?All of Me,? which will be held this March 31 at the Royal Mandaya Hotel, will feature Nepumoceno in his favor caricature of roles that has made him famous. Among his spoofs include the striking portrayal of country?s leaders like the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos, Erap Estrada and Fidel Ramos. He is also known for portraying Dolphy, Gringo Honasan Ping Lacson, Kuya Germs, Nur Misuari among many others.

USEP Students Win Top Invention Awards

DAVAO CITY ? Students from the University of Southeastern Philippines College of Engineering students bagged the first place in three out of five categories in the Project Research Invention Contest during the Second Regional Engineering Congress held early this month at the NCCC Mall, Davao City.
