Many Passengers Unaware of 1st Class Airport Services in Davao

Davao City (14 March) — Many airline passengers are still not aware of the first class services they get through the Davao International Airport.

Philippine Airlines executive vice president Atty Domingo Duerme who is also president of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) bared the lack of awareness among the travelers of Mindanao on the use of the Davao airport for their international trip.

Gov’t, Private Sector Eye More Passengers for Davao Airport

Davao City (14 March) — The government and the private sector in the region are joining hands to look for the remaining million passengers that will increase demand, investments and international flights of the underused Davao International Airport.

Department of Tourism XI regional director Sonia Garcia in a press briefing with Davao business reporters on Tuesday at Krua Thai of SM City said they realized that passengers are not yet aware of the potential of DIA as an international gateway.

Intl’ Airline to Open Davao-Hongkong Route

DAVAO CITY — An international airline will open the Davao-Hong Kong and Hong Kong-Davao route to serve travellers from those areas.

Wanda Teo, president of the National Association of Independent Travel Agencies (NAITAS), said Hong Kong Air is currently working the papers for its landing rights at the Davao International Airport (DIA).

Davao Studes Win in Smart Wireless Apps Awards

Students from Ateneo de Davao developed the Vehicle Emergency Locator (VEL) that sends an alert message to a cellphone when a car’s airbag is used during accidents. The program can also send out a phone message that tells the GPS location the car.

Launched in August 2004, the SWEEP Innovation and Excellence Awards aims ?to give budding engineering students an opportunity to shine by recognizing their technology know-how and ingenuity,? says Rolando G. Pe?a, SMART?s network services division head.
