CHR to probe martial law-related violations in Misamis Oriental

The Commission on Human Rights-10 (CHR-10) will investigate the complaint of two civilians who were accused as Communist rebels by state agents in the wake of the massive evacuation of residents in hinterland villages in Opol town, Misamis Oriental, due to the reported presence of hundreds of alleged New People’s Army (NPA) fighters.

Officials fear increase of evacuees in Misamis Oriental as fighting between NPAs, gov’t intensifies

More rural villagers are expected to arrive at the evacuation center in the municipality of Opol, Misamis Oriental after a group of armed men ?believed to be ?members of the New People's Army were seen in the town’s four hinterland communities since last week, the mayor said Wednesday.

Mindanao lawmakers support Marawi rehab budget

Some Mindanao lawmakers have expressed their support for the rehabilitation of the besieged Marawi City through allocation of funds as the Lower House has started deliberating the budget for next year.

Lumad group files HRV complaints at CHR-10

Northern Mindanao’s indigenous peoples (IPs) are still optimistic President Rodrigo Duterte will act on their complaints of alleged abuses perpetrated by state agents against them as they submitted a report on these violations to the Commission on Human Rights (CHR-10) in the region.
